Sergio A. Pérez is an experienced attorney who has practiced labor and employment law for six years before government administrative agencies and courts. Attorney Pérez is an immigrant himself and has long been aware of the lack of adequate representation of immigrants in the area of immigration law, many of whom fall victim to unscrupulous “notarios” who falsely hold themselves out as licensed attorneys. As such, Mr. Pérez decided to shift his practice to immigration law in order to help clients who are most in need of competent legal representation before the U.S. immigration apparatus.

Experience and Activities

Mr. Pérez is currently a member of the California State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Mexican American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association and the American Immigration Law Association. Prior to studying law, Mr. Pérez interned at the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program where he assisted clients with issues involving domestic violence and political asylum.

Mr. Pérez received his Bachelor of Arts in History, with distinction, from San Diego State University in 1999. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law in 2004. While in law school, Mr. Pérez co-founded the National Latina/o Law Students Association, and served as Co-Recruitment Chair of La Raza Law Students Association and Managing Editor of the Chicano-Latino Law Review. Mr. Pérez also served as an intern at the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Los Angeles.

In addition to his membership in the California State Bar Association, Mr. Pérez is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
